Swimming – Tainan Spa World
Tainan Spa World (Táinán Shuǐdū Shìjiè 台南水都世界)
One of the most complete swimming facilities in Tainan is Tainan Spa World. While most people these days tend to associate the word spa with health spas (or maybe the gentlemen’s spas common in Taiwan), this establishment seems more about swimming and bathing than massage and beauty treatments.
Spa World offers both indoor and outdoor pools, though only the indoor pools are open year-round. They also have a giant water slide and fun pool, but it looks defunct and I haven’t gotten any clear answers on whether or not it will be repaired. The outdoor pool is a standard 50-meter pool. The indoor pools are attractive, if not a bit garish, with a large pool for swimming and smaller ‘spa’ pools that may be mineral-treated or may simply be hot tubs.
The hours for the pool are quite complicated with very intermittent swimming sessions. The indoor pool has the simplest schedule. It’s open from:
- 6:00AM ~ 11:30AM
- 1:30PM ~ 10:30PM.
The outdoor pool has four sessions from:
- 6:00AM ~ 8:30AM
- 9:00 ~ 11:30AM
- 1:30PM ~5:00PM
- 6:30 ~ 9:30PM
The Spa Pools also have their own times from:
- 6:30AM ~ 8:30AM
- 9:30 ~ 11:30AM
- 2:00PM ~5:00PM
- 6:30 ~ 10:00PM
Fees can be paid as memberships or as individual admissions. Memberships cost about NT$3000 monthly or NT$13,200 annually. There are some concessions on annual membership for students and seniors, but not on the monthly memberships. General admission for the indoor activities is Adult NT$200, Student NT$150, and Child NT$100. Admission for outdoor activities is Adult $50, Student NT$40, and Child NT$35.
Except in July and August, on every second Wednesday the fee is just NT$50 for the indoor pools, and on every second Thursday they are closed.

wow. :O looks brilliant.
I think it’s probably Shui3du1. 🙂 Good review.
Thanks for the help with the pinyin. I’ve made the adjustment.
Update – The outdoor pool is open 6-9:30. (not 6:30).
What is up with these crazy hours? Closed 11:30 – 1:30? That’s the best time of day to be in a pool! Sheesh, I’m going to go there today to figure this out
It turns out that that is when people around here like to have an afternoon nap.
the “fun” pool and water slide are open again!
Thanks for the update. That’s good to know.
